What a great CoderDojo event on 23 June 2018!

Saturday 23 June 2018 we had our second CoderDojo of the year. This time focusing on kids in local schools.

Our thanks to the International School of Zug and Luzern (ISZL) for the use of their iPads without which the Lego Robotics sessions would not have been possible.

A huge thank you to Thomson Reuters who not only provided us with the amazing venue, but through financial support allowed us to dress up the their offices in CoderDojo livery, offer snacks for the little ninjas and their parents and send them home with cool goodie bags!

Finally a great thanks for the 3 teenagers who volunteered to be mentors, our friends from Roche for mentoring and producing the excellent video of the event, and generous support from local Swiss friends and family who made the day run so smoothly!

The Robotics I kids had their first experience building and programming basic Lego robots. The Robotics II kids started their sessions building a Thirsty Plant Kit by wiring up sensors, solar panels, LEDs and other electronics to make a sensor that alerts you when your plant needs feeding, and then they joined the Robotics I kids upstairs where they were building and programming advanced Lego robots. The older kids were making their own music with Sonic Pi – a Ruby based programming language for making music.

The enthusiasm and energy of the mentors, the parents and most importantly the little ninjas made this a great event. But don’t just take our word for it, you can see for yourself below!
